Christmas Storm VII

Cold Rain

Thanks for the dose of reality for some of the people. I think this whole storm is going to over perform when all is said and done. I know being patient is tough, but just hang on a bit long and it will come.

BTW, I'm sitting here about 9mi NW of GSO with about 3.5" and no let up in sight!!

Probably true for I-77 east, but I'm 50 west of that and all of this is happening too late to help me any.

The sad reality is here in parts of the upstate SC we went under a warning for 4-8" of snow, 2nd time in 2 years and alot of us won't reach an inch! That's what's hard to stomach!

I wonder how it will be for the Lowcountry. Here on the coast, Channel 2 predicted a dusting to an inch.

Thats probably about right. I go to school at CofC but I'm home for break. During the Feb 12th storm summerville got 8" while downtown got 1", being right on the water screwed us. I do think youll see some good moderate to heavy snow once that low passes off this coast though. If you can overcome the BL temps you could be looking at more.

The low is just getting into florida, it isnt even off the coast yet, and as daculaweather pointed out, the northern stream looks to be wrapping around the coastal low as we speak.

Good Evening ya'll...once it does pivot around the coast, does it throw more moisture into NE GA? Or will it be mostly a Central GA, Carolina wrap around moisture storm.

Per the RUC (as I am no met), once the low is in the Atlantic, it's mainly a NC/SC storm and points northward which will be in about 5-6 hours.

Speaking of the RUC, the 23z precip up to 6 am tomorrow bullseyes CLT-HKY-GSO with 0.5"+ QPF

Don't count on the RUC qpf output. It showed me getting nearly 3/4 inch of liquid and the snow not stopping until 2 or 3 am. I've only gotten 1/4 inch of liquid with the back edge quickly approaching.

I believe it's going to be too far off the coast for us. I think our only hope is what's wrapping in from TN. We really needed a more inland track and and it didn't phase with the cold until it was too late.

Glad to see the reports from all of you getting snow today . Patiently waiting for precipitation in ANY form to fall. We've been shut out all afternoon and evening so far ... rapidly losing the hours to have a shot at a legit 'white' Christmas here in Clayton, NC. It looks like the line of precip is stuck on the Wake/Johnston Co. line and not filling in to the SE of there yet.

So far, that really hasn't panned out here -- it keeps showing me getting a 1/2 inch per hour (since about 4 p.m.) but I'm still struggling to reach an inch. With temps at 31.1, doesn't seem like it's melting, but losing another degree or two sure wouldn't hurt. StrongWx's loop is interesting -- needs to happen here fast if we're going to get to warning criteria. Still hopeful, but becoming dubious.
