Had my first ever bluebird sighting today. :)

I’ve actually seen more bluebirds in our yard (specifically at a suet feeder) this winter than the entire I’ve lived in this area. I do wonder if the warming climate has anything to do with the sudden increase in sightings or perhaps I’m just more vigilant of the different birds that happen to be in our neck of the woods. It really is an incredible sight.

We have had Bluebirds for years, but not many. A couple of years ago they started wintering over. We put Bluebird nesting houses up too. They seem to be increasing in numbers.

I currently have a ton of Robin's, Blue Jay's, red winged black birds, grackels, cowbirds, Juncos, chickadees, purple finches, gold finches, Northern flickers...add in a few wild turkeys, 2 chipmunks, and a red squirrel.

got a off weather topic for all you who partake in the edibles etc...my wife's source is no longer carrying her favorite space bar chocolate edible, can anyone point my to where I might be able to find them, she's got a legit gluten allergy so those were the only ones she was able to eat without issues. Appreciate any info. thanks

Check Insa’s site and they have a springfield location to pickup.

We put up several a few years ago, but cannot keep the Sparrows out.  Bluebirds try to establish residency, but end up getting bullied by the sparrows.  How do you keep them out?

We don't do anything special.  For some reason, we don't have too many Bluebirds this spring.  None have taken up nesting in the boxes.  Perhaps they don't like our new Golden Retriever rescue dog that we got last August?

It’s on the summer bucket list.

Go to Modern on state street as well. Most of us locals think it's the best New Haven pizza. Get the Italian Bomb.

Bar on Crown St also has great pizza and it also has a brewery inside. They make a mashed potato and bacon pizza that is awesome.

The original Pepe's.  The Manchester chain spot has turned to sh.it. The sauce tastes ass, and really thin.  The pie was embarrassing. Overpriced, and not much better than Red Barron.

Last time I went to the Mohegan one it was o.k., but nothing like the original, New Haven shop.

Modern is fantastic. Zuppardi's sausage pie in West Haven is outrageous as well.

Yea. The waterbury spot has disappointed as well. They’ve burned my pies twice now and overloaded on sauce. Danbury is still good but if you’re gonna go, it’s the original New Haven or bust.

Instead of wasting time doing that , you should have stayed in our fantasy baseball league . No one can understand it.

Enjoy

I'm not really into fantasy baseball.

Fun times at large item pickup season - actual pickup set for 5/9:
Several years ago, I built a solid doghouse for our rescue yellow Lab mix from Texas.  However, she was highly insulted about spending a night outside, certainly fostered by the 60" of snow in her first 6 weeks here.  I took the structure to the pickup site at the end of our short road today - was going to put a sign on it, "Never used, wimpy dog" but didn't get the chance.  A middle-aged couple were perusing (scavaging) the things folks had put out on our road so I asked if they could use the doghouse.  They said yes and it went directly from my little Ranger to their minivan without touching the ground, the wife noting that her ducks would love it.  A first for anything I've set out at large item time.
