initial lawn cleanup completed today. picked up approximately 1,000 sticks and branches, then towed the lawn sweeper around to pick up the pine cones and smaller sticks. Will likely need to repeat the sweeping in a couple weeks. first mow still won’t be needed for another few weeks

Last shot of cold for the season? Full speed ahead on yard cleanup?

when is best time to top dress and seed?

in Nashua? usually right around Memorial day. you need soil temps to go up quite a bit, at least 50 degrees

This weekend had me cleaning out all mulch beds and access leaves/crap on lawn. So far ahead of the game. This early start has at least shown me where the weeds are that I need to terminate.

I dethatched and aerated but nervous about putting down step 1 of JG given several below freezing nights are still on the horizon.

Yea. I was going to wait until after the mid week cyclone originally just to be safe.

The difference is amazing in two weeks, we usually go down by the casino to one the courses there first week of April, one of the is Cedar Ridge, we get there early for their brunch spread and golf 18, course is greened up and it's a good deal for brunch and golf.

Good deal.

The crabgrass went crazy last season but I missed the early season prevention so I’m putting JG down to hopefully control it this season.

The JG synthetic crabgrass control worked wonders for me last year. I'm trying the corn gluten this year but I don't expect the same result, we'll see

Let me know how it does for you. I try to minimize the chems but sometimes the annoyance of crab and weeds overrides my desire to be eco friendly.
