ChescoWx
Temperatures this morning across Chester County were as low as 50 degrees at Warwick Township. We should see sun this AM with clouds increasing and some showers and thunderstorms arriving from the southwest around the 5pm hour or so from west to east. After the showers tonight we have a great stretch of weather right through the upcoming weekend. Temps start below normal and end up near to above normal by early next week. Chester County wide records for today: High 95 degrees at Phoenixville (1941) / Low 32 degrees (this is the latest freezing observation on record in Chester County) at Phoenixville (1936) / Rain 3.25" also at Phoenixville (1990)

JTA66
That was one of the more intense storms in some time. Winds were just your typical thunderstorm gusts but the rain rates were torrential, picked up a quick .50” in 20 minutes or so. Also, that’s the first time I’ve seen hail here since 2009 or so. Finally, lost power for a few minutes. 60F/DP 58F

ChescoWx
Interesting data here as we have had a very slow start to the warm season across the entire USA this year. Only 4% of USHCN stations have reached 80°F so far this year, which year-to-date, is fourth lowest on record since 1895 behind 2011, 1995 and 1935, and is about the same was 1924. The peak year was not surprisingly 1934. The top five years are 1934, 1936, 1969, 1939 and 1914. No such years at all in the last 55 years?? ChescoWx
Across Chester County PA we finished May with an average temperature across the 27 NWS/MADIS stations of 63.9 degrees this was the 27th warmest May since records began in 1893. The warmest station was of course Phoenixville at 65.6 degrees and the coolest was at Warwick Township at 62.7 degrees. The highest temperature during the month was recorded at West Chester with the 88.7 degrees on the 26th. Our lowest temperature was the 40.1 degrees on the 11th. The greatest monthly rainfall was at West Chester with 3.57" of rain. Below is the long term May actual (blue) climate history since 1895 - compared with the altered adjusted (red) NCEI trend lines. The actual lines show no warming and actually some cooling over history....while the adjusted NCEI figures show some slight warming.
