The 4 Seasons Posted February 27 Share Posted February 27 This thread has all the snowstorms for the entire 2023-2024 winter season. I wanted to create a thread for a place to go to view all the accumulating events for the entire season. There's a few disclaimers i wanted to mention. 1. The season is obviously not done yet (hopefully) so any other storms will be added to this thread. 2. These maps are the widespread events that triggered a forecast and subsequent CT (or SNE/Tri-state map). Some very small localized events like snow squalls, snow showers, or small elevation events are not here. 3. I'll keep this post up for most of the year but if/when it gets deleted for storage space you can find all the maps here and all the past seasons going back to 2000-2001 here: https://www.jdjweatherconsulting.com/pastwinterstorms Winter Storm #1: Interior snow to rain event, elevation dependent storm. November 21-22nd 2023. Winter Storm #2: Snow to rain, ending as snow costal low transfer. Interior focused. January 6-7th 2024. Winter Storm #3: Snow to sleet and freezing rain. Costal low riding up near the cape. January 16th 2024. Winter Storm #4: Cold light snow event during the day. January 19th 2024. Winter Storm #5: Light snow to mix and rain overnight. January 23rd 2024. Winter Storm #6: Interior and elevation event, wet snow. Coastal low. Rain at the coast. January 28th 2024. Winter Storm #7: Bombing out coastal low SE of the benchmark. Moderate to heavy snow early morning into the afternoon. SE focused. February 13th 2024. Winter Storm #8: Costal low W-E, SE of the benchmark. Strong H7 fronto band in NJ. Light snow for much of CT during the morning. February 17th 2024. Winter Storm #9: Inland & elevation snowstorm, rain and strong winds for most of SNE and the coast. March 10-11th 2024. Winter Storm #10: Major interior (CNE/NNE) late season snow, rain and freezing rain storm. With all the work i've done this season to create new maps, new graphics and fine tune everything in photoshop i wished it would have been a good one. HOW are you creating these maps? Thanks, i use photoshop that i have fine tuned and edited over the years. All these maps are created by hand, one by one, point by point, for each event. codfishsnowman Posted April 14 Share Posted April 14 I guess this is the most appropriate thread to grade the past winter D The only thing that kept this from being an F was the 1/7 event that put down a foot of snow, which for my area is impressive in any winter. I think we only got down below 10f once and there were no cold days below 20f for a maximum which is rare. Just a handful of daytime maxes in the 20s. Number of days with an inch or more snow wasn't the worst but was low at 18. Almost 30 inches below normal snowfall...40 percent of normal. tamarack Posted April 15 Share Posted April 15 My numerical system lands in D+ territory, with temps approaching F-land. However, the 22" overperformer in late March and the 13.9" dump earlier this month leave a better taste than the numbers, even though snowpack was BN. Also, the flood/windstorm of December 18, while not wintry, was one of the most notable events of my experience, even if it butchered the fir on our woodlot.
