So easy these days for record highs and not by small margins

This is very true..but it's worth noting the records for today were on the lower side. For Central Park today was one of the very few days this late with a record high below 70. Record highs in the 60s start fading away by late Feb, and they are just about gone by this point...but obviously there are couple hanging on, i.e today.

has anyone in Manhattan other than the official  NWS recording station measured higher then 7.5 inches this winter ? Or has anyone in any other section of the city Brooklyn Queens etc. etc. measured more than 7.5 ?

La Guardia and Kennedy have over 10 inches.

I recorded 11.5” for the season at 120th and Broadway. Obviously the park was low, first Feb event 5.5” while the park was 3.2” for example.

We should honestly just keep DST year round. Changing clocks doesn’t do anything it was originally proposed to do.

The 2nd part is true-it doesn't save any costs on electricity.  The first part is a problem you'd have 8:20 sunrises here and 9:20am in the western ends of each time zone in Dec-Jan.  Not happening.

Went for a long bicycle ride today and my wife and I went to the park for a walk. People were out en masse and gorgeous skies. So nice after 5 hours on the road in rain yesterday. Frogs are croaking everywhere.

Starting to think it is time to take the snow thrower to the basement until Nov/Dec.

It was the perfect day, every day in spring should be like this!

No allergies, no winds, low humidity and clear blue skies from horizon to horizon!

If we ever start regulating weather, it should be like this 6 days out of 7.

Let it rain on each 7th day.

Yesterday was about as great a day as I've ever seen this early.

We broke 1991's record and 1991 was the year with the most 90 degree days until that record was tied in 1993.

No cold air in sight as the ensembles remain much warmer than average next few weeks.

The whole system needs an overhaul. But even in Ohio people support not changing the clocks. But even so I don’t get why people are so worried about morning daylight. The evening commute is just as important and statistically more people are out for the evening commute. People always talk about students going to school in the dark, well they already do all winter here. High school busses start picking up before 6AM where I am. Those students already go to school in the dark basically the whole school year.  We didn’t even have a Federal standard for it until 1967 and we have moved it multiple times. I would okay with going back to the old way the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October. But we’ll see what happens in the future as the “Sunshine Protection Act” was passed by the Senate but not the House. I honestly don’t see it changing anytime soon, but it is worth thinking about permanent DST or EST.

I think Standard Time has the best chance of passing.   House never took up permanent DST due to the morning issues.

Stop.  You are making yourself look really silly with these fantasy OP model runs 8 days out.

I thought we enjoyed the right of Freedom of Speech in this country ?- he doesn't create the model output maps .........lets see how long before this post is deleted......anyways its strange that the some were critical of the GFS snow event for next weekend a few model runs back and went with  the CMC for not having it and now the CMC is showing the same thing the GFS was showing a few model runs back and they are critical of that models output...which model will show it at 12Z ?

there will be cold rainy days throughout this month and cold mornings where you need a heavier jacket outdoors   these means don't show that. Plus the interior still has a chance of some frozen precip through early April and its not impossible for the coast too....

It's fine but put it in banter.   A day 8 OP run is mostly worthless.

its weather related and belongs here - people are allowed to talk about non-weather related topics here

There is a difference between needing a jacket and whether the pattern is warm or cold for this time of year. Most days we’ll need a jacket even it’s +10 since it’s only March. The means do a good job at showing the warmth. As for frozen precip, very unlikely coastal sections see much next few weeks.
