Even better, tonight it will probably get below 30 here. Wonder how much of this will ice up. Still raining moderately. Closest gauge to here says 3.48". Seeing 4.02" in Huntington Village just north of here and some over 4" in N Nassau.

This band coming through has some of my heaviest rainfall rates of the year so far just east of KHVN.

Gust to 32 mph at my remote station at Cherry Grove on Fire Island at 4:45 PM with the line.  A nearby station gusted to 42 mph at that time.

Just passed 8.00" for month, good for 6th wettest, about 0.75" behind 1953 and 1876, first to third are 10 to 11 inches.

The 1876 record one-day event was a strong low from central U.S. and Ohio valley which did a slow coastal transfer (4.25" included 0.5" snow at NYC). It was also on a Saturday (25th). Same storm produced a very heavy snowfall at Toronto (around 17").

Can't help but notice that top daily rainfalls in past cases are well correlated with hot summers or at least one notable hot spell.

Adding up the hourly totals at JFK I got 3.12", LGA 3.44", Central Park 3.63 and EWR 2.86" (missing data?)

Right, I expected them all to be over 3" by the end of the storm.

Do you think this is going to be our last freezing or below temperatures for the airports and the park tonight or tomorrow night?

Looks like 3.8" will do it here. Kudos to the HRRR for nailing the heavy rain just north of the warm front and developing band with the cold front. Still have 7 days left with many/most of us over 10" now for the month.

The next two nights may be our last freezing or below temperatures until next fall looking at the forecasts.
