Completely unscientific reasoning - but if that line can deliver some good storms/gusts (even if sub-severe) to the area...this has the feeling of a mini-heater combining today and tomorrow. We are due...that's my only reasoning really.

Works for me lol. Do you think this line out west will make it through tonight with some action? It feels like there's plenty enough moisture in the air to fuel it. Hopefully it gets out of here and we wake up to clear sky and we bake.

Well it has poor timing working against it (not during peak heating). But we've seen many times when lines that are supposed to fizzle completely do make it across the higher terrain. I don't think it'll be an area-wide line though. If it gets to "us" it'll probably fizzle somewhere between the Blue Ridge and the beltway. Game of miles as weather always is!

Somewhat interested in tomorrow. The system coming across Missouri, Illinois, and Missouri seems energetic and is producing a decent number of tornadoes. We'll see what the visible satellite imagery tomorrow looks like.

Spoiler: Early showers/storms that keep popping like popcorn to keep us stable. That, or just socked in overcast until a brief clearing that happens too late.

Gusted into the 50s, lots of T&L, and heavy wind swept rain during the height. A fun summer thunderstorm!

A quick.35”, a little more than last night and not at grilling time today.  We’ll take it.

The HRRR keeps wanting to kill it just before it reaches the Potomac.    That said, while I think that there is a limited life for this thing, the HRRR is slow with the movement, so I could see it making it a bit further east.
