Hurricane Agnes
Getting white rain here in NW Philly now. There was enough pingers in the earlier rain to actually "dust" the cars with a layer of sleet. Temp is still holding at 33 with dp 32.

RU848789
34 minutes ago, RU848789 said: As of 5 am, we were at 33F with 1/2" of mixed snow/sleet on the ground and as of 6 am it's still 33F and we have almost 1" of snow/sleet on the ground with it being all snow since about 5:30 pm with moderate snow falling now (nice dendrites). Going to need more intensity (more than 1" per hour and we've been less than that), though, to get more than 7" by noon, when things wind down.. I woke up at 5 am so I didn't see the changeover, but the radar indicates we likely changed from rain to snow around 4 am. Every surface is covered including the streets in front of our house and it's likely having some sleet helped with overcoming melting as sleet pellets have a much lower surface area per unit volume than snowflakes and melting only occurs at the surface, so melting is much slower for sleet. As of 6:30 am, still 33F and 1.25" of snow on the ground and snowing moderately - that's only 1/2" per hour rates - going to need more than that to even get to 5-6", let alone 7-8". Hurricane Agnes
KaPOW! Went from white rain/mix to SN, near SN+ here in NW Philly. Ended up with 0.48" in the bucket (0.53" 2-day total) and the accumulation is building quickly everywhere. Already have 1/4" coating on surfaces warm and cold! Temp still 33 with dp 32. Duca892
Not only is the original WSW forecast of 7-10in going to verify for many in the Lehigh Valley. It uh sure looks like some places might hit 12in.
anthonyweather
She is cruising though. But yeah thinking 10+ for many up here in LV and poconos could be at 12-16.
MattMal88
So much for it having trouble sticking. Was sleeting pretty hard when i just got up at 0615, flipped to snow and immediately sticking to all surfaces. Think the quick layer of sleet helped that. Mod snow now in NE Philly. Roads look like they may suck, ill find out soon enough lol.

The temp was already dropping near but still above freezing so surfaces had cooled and that thin sleet layer took it the rest of the way. Temp now at 32 IMBY with dp 32 and SN & fog.
