What do the least snowiest records look like around there? There’s obviously a lot of winter to go there but I would think this winter would be in the running right now.

Not sure area wide,  but here's every winter since 1980 for Negaunee Twp. It's pretty cluttered, but the green shaded area at the bottom is this year. There's been a few clunkers.

I've dm'd the weather office and asked what the least snowy winter on record was there but even that only dates back to 1961.

The graph is a week or so old.  MQT currently stands at 72.6 for the season, average to date is 128.6.

Wow. The early 20th century sure had a lot of low snow winters. Calumet is already over 100 inches this winter and it’s only mid Feb. I can’t even imagine how snowless those winters felt at the time.

What's interesting is 1930-31 and 1925-26 are on the top of Duluths snowless list. Yet 1925-26 was Detroits 3rd snowiest winter with 78.0". Must have been an interesting storm track. 1930-31 was a drought winter and bad in most places, but a March snowstorm did save face some in the southern Lakes.

Over-performer underway, especially in the northern suburban counties which were upgraded to a WSW. Persistent heavy snow dropped 4”+ north of town by 7pm. Eyeballing close to 2” imby, hopefully will tack on a couple more inches.

My grass is completely covered for the first time since Halloween.

MSP official storm total of 6.9” on 0.41” of precipitation. This sets a new snowfall record for Valentine’s Day in Minneapolis.

Snowfall futility is now off the table as our season total jumps up to 14.2”  which is the record low from winter 1930/31.

The wet nature of the snow at onset will make for some great scenes when the sun rises.

We don't have MSP's totals, but it was definitely puking fatties on the way in to work this morning.  Easily 1-2"+ diameter snowflakes.  Too bad there was a little mixed precip thrown in.

Always fun getting silver dollar sized flakes.  I love it when you can look outside when it is dark and still see the flakes because they are so big!! :snowwindow:

Well we ended up with a nice 2-3" of snow from this storm. Classic mid-March storm with the rain at the beginning last night and then turning over into slushy snow overnight. Its become sunny now and the snow caked on the trees is really pretty right now before the sune melts it. Will have a nice cooldown into the 20s the next couple of days, but right back to average in the upper 30s and 40s on Sunday. Talk about a perfectly stereotypical mid-March pattern....wait what do you mean its February 15th?!
