Definitly flipped compared to recent winters. I was gonna head down to florida this weekend for the month of March but might stick around a few extra days since it looks to be in the 60s through the weekend.

We had such a record stretch of snowy Februarys it seemed as if it would never end. Now we have had 2 duds in a row. Shows that trends break, and makes me feel good that the dud December trend will break soon.

Prior to yesterday (records going back to 1893), Rockford's record high temp in DJF was 70F on 2/22/2017 and 2/25/2000.

They hit 73F yesterday, and are already up to 73F at noon CST today.  Two days in a row of all-time record high temps for met winter, going back 130 years.

Make that 77F at Rockford - just ridiculous.  Normal high is 38F.

An unbelievable 79 at MLI today, hit 77 here.

Out the south window at work literally watched the southern sky go from clear to filled with towering cu in a matter of a half hour.  Would have made for an amazing time lapse.

EDIT:  Cold front just slammed through.  Outside you could literally hear it coming, as it was nearly dead calm as it came in.

Back when pigs flew

Quote

1900, a snowstorm dropped 12.6 inches of snow at Detroit. This was the 7th heaviest snowstorm in Detroit history. It also started a remarkable run of snowstorms that included the 3rd and 4th heaviest snowstorms during the next two weeks in 1900.

The winter of 1899-00 was crazy. what started as a very lackluster snow season through january (9.4") saw 58" of snow in Feb-Mar, including a snow depth of 26" March 5. While this was going on in southern MI, it was an extremely light winter up north.
