Not worried. Euro Mean has had us at .2" liquid for awhile now. This will be a 1-3" and we'll be happy. Timing will be key though as we want the start before sunrise to get a base layer down.

Base layer? On what the roads?

Posting here too since this will affect incoming radar hallucinations lol...

...WSR-88D KFCX DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE DUE TO MAJOR EQUIPMENT
FAILURE...

A major physical component of WSR-88D KFCX has failed and will
have to be replaced. Time to restoration is unknown as this time
and thus the radar will be down until further notice. In the
meantime, relatively good coverage of precipitation echoes across
the RNK service area can be obtained using neighboring radars or
composite radar displays. Neighboring radars include Charleston WV
(KRLX), Sterling VA, (KLWX), Wakefield VA (KAKQ), Raleigh NC
(KRAX), Greenville- Spartanburg SC (KGSP), and Morristown TN
(KMRX).

Well the Petersburg snowhole hallucinations just got bigger. :)

I’m not writing it off. It just seems like the Nam’s were a bit north from 6z. Rgem hardly gets any precip to Baltimore south. Still a good chance we get 1-3” but Baltimore south has very little margin for error.

.

RGEM is 0.2 from Baltimore down through DC.

I don't understand the negativity..... I mean the NJ people must be upset they are not getting the JB blizzard, I would be thrilled with another 3 inches or so before the February reload.

I am with you. I have snowpack and sub 20 degree temps going on right now. I will be happy with some snow showers that drop an inch at this point.

Still doable but 9/10 times, we’d rather need a north nudge than the opposite. Perhaps this time since it’s already quite cold all the way to the gulf coast, models are underestimating how far south this SW tracks / digs, but idk. I’m just an amateur weenie.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if it tracks further south, like along the snow cover line.

Even here in UHI melt-town, there is still snow clinging to tree branches. That is so rare here. My snowpack in the yard has barely changed...high temps below freezing...kids get another day sledding... this is the january dream, even without more to come. Another 2" is icing on the cake if it happens. Let's go RGEM/ICON, come on GFS.

You get a feel for how things are when you come to the website and you see only 14 pages in a storm thread since yesterday instead of 40. lol

Things haven’t changed really. 1-4” type event depending on location, with enough changes still occurring on models that this could still trend for the better or worse between now and showtime. We’ve also JUST seen a solid areawide 4-6” snow with cold temps and an unmelted snowpack, so people aren’t foaming at the mouth as much.
