arlwx12
On school alerts: I think the preliminary decisions for the lowlanders (Arlington/Alexandria/Falls Church/Fairfax) won't come until after 4 pm, and may start off as school delays rather than school closings. ((Have to save it up for Febrruary...)) PW and Loudoun may start off sooner, and may go straight to closings, as they have higher elevations. Eskimo Joe
Only mesonet site in the state with ground temps above freezing is Clarksville, which is at 34 degrees. When the snow starts later today in earnest, it will stick quick.

jacindc
Snow just starting to fall on Capitol Hill. When I was little and we'd look out the window and see new snow on the ground, my mom would always quote Bambi and say, "Look, Mom, what's all that white stuff?" 50+ years later, and I still say it every time.
