Winds are roaring.  15-25 MPH with gust 35-40.  Have the windows open to listen.  Love that sound.

South facing windows? I'm on the porch on the north side of the house, and yeah its pretty stormy out. 1.53" of rain so far. Getting busy out here!

North side.  There's a line a trees, though, that sound like they're gonna lose some limbs tonight.

There's one of those ropes on the other side of the Chesapeake Bay as well, but it may pass west of here. A couple of gusts here were pretty strong, sounded like something landed on the neighbor's roof. Also saw a transformer flash off to the west. The thing is, the strongest winds aren't supposed to be until late this evening. Hold onto your hat I guess. Thinking I should make sure the generator has gas in it.

Probably a good idea.  lol  Hoping it gets worse.  If I can't have snow in January, may as well have convection, severe thunderstorm warnings, and 55 degree temps.

My parents down in Oxford have 2.5". We're sitting at 1.4 and my sump is cycling. I swear that thing used to be bone dry during events like this prior to our record 11" in three days last July. I bet the hydrology of the groundwater flow was significantly altered.

Currently up to 57 with dp 56 and 2.47" in the bucket with moderate rain.  The rope looks ominous.

Being honest never heard the term rope yet there it is!  Was witness to a training effect once. Not the same.  Lots of rain.  Either way

I never have either but it's a good description of this odd convective line!

I totally didn't just make that up.  It's an official term.  The AMS knows all about it.....
