She slammed the door and stomped into the house while I was trying to tell her that I'll find the phone number for the school superintendent so she can make a complaint. lolol love it. Meanwhile my 5th grader came home early, cheering to a night off from dance. She did her homework, then crafts while I finished up my work day. We made dinner together and got to sit and eat without rushing out the door. It’s been wonderful.

Hank Scorpio
Shreve mill Rd just south of leesburg is closed due to flooding. Not too surprising, since that spot probably floods 5 times a year. Just down the road, goose creek was just about at the top of its banks. Guessing that'll overflow soon, but as far as I know it won't threaten any roads in the area. Still impressive to see how far it's come up in a relatively short amount of time today.

Haven't seen/heard any wind yet, just rain. Looked at the Dominion and NOVEC sites and zero power outages in Loudoun, so I think the wind skipped Loudoun. hazwoper
How rare is it to have super cells with large imbedded tornadoes forming off the cost of the Carolinas and making landfall in mid January. Serious question.

Interstate
I am sitting at an elevation of 500 feet. I had some good wind gusts and lost two trees already. I hate the south winds because the trees are use to it.

Y'all are at that stage (e.g., the oh-dark-thirty, after school and weekend sports and other extracurricular activities for the kids!) that my family was at about 10-12 years ago. But it also sounds like you're each smart enough to enjoy the rare weeknight off...even if it's due to weather...which is great. Sometimes you need that little slice of downtime as a family. So glad to read this...and soak it up tonight. 26 minutes ago, H2O said: power flickered a few times here Yep...same here, and we rarely get flickering lights. Just a tad worried from the sump pump standpoint...but on the plus side, all of the cell phones in the house are charged up! 1
