Traffic cam shows it’s ripping snow on wv —va border rt 48 on the mountain. It was freezing rain and sleet earlier

The same can be said of the GFS, Euro, GEM. None of the models predicted how much we would warm overnight upstairs  after the HP moved offshore. Especially western areas. This threw everybody and everything including the NWS for a loop.

Newest aircraft departure sounding 20 min ago. Still could wetbulb in the lowest levels but saturated around 850 would be sleet/rain mix

Some hope (at least out here) - transitioned over to snow (for now). Not heavy either which I think is a good sign. Temp fell back to 28.0. Gosh I hope that the WAL mixed out. Fingers crossed.

Top of Wisp seems to be all snow now. Small flake size but coming down moderately. Roads covered and it’s looking like winter out there. Hope the intensity picks up and holds for 5 or 6 hours

For what it’s worth, some of the mesos had favored spots starting as sleet and then flipping by to snow with better rates.

But maybe we can retire colder ground temps mattering… as well as snow in Arkansas. And never look at the RGEM again

Seeing some snow falling on my cam back home in union bridge. Assume some sleet is mixed in there too based on other’s observations. WSW up for 2-4” of snow / sleet + some ice
