It’s getting bad quick with this heatwave on top of it. No rain in April/may is a different animal than a bone dry June or July. 100 degrees on top of ground that hasn’t seen a raindrop in 3+ weeks is brutal

It is just awful here for sure. I can't wait for summer to be over already.

This week’s drought monitor illustrates the severity of this dry stretch. Nearly 60% of NC is now in a moderate drought. That’s up from 0% last week. With today’s rain missing the central part of the state and no guarantees over the next week, this could escalate quickly.

Yeah this week's chances have really, uh, evaporated. Most will likely see some rain, but unlikely to move the needle.

Katydids a few weeks later than last year.  Grandmother used to say you could count 16 weeks from the first time you hear katydids to the first frost/freeze.  It was amazing how close she would always hit it.  I’m afraid this could be a repeat of the 2016 fall, dry and hot.

If you’re bored with baking and sweating from places you didn’t know you could sweat, head to the tropical thread. Not sure when we’ll see another June major like this. Beryl is going to be a case study for a long long time.

A very disappointing Sunday.  Potent, slow-moving cells around, everything slightly off course.

Sunday was disappointing but Monday morning rocked!  Got 2.46" this morning.
