John1122
GFS looks similar to the NAM so far, which isn't particularly surprising.
John1122
Round 2 on the Canadian. It's still snowing in the East at this point but it couldn't all be captured in a 24hr panel.
John1122
That is the best run for a snow lover in Knoxville Tennessee, that I've ever seen on any model. Two events and 23 inch lollipops showing up in Knoxville over the 8 day or so period.

I cant think of a greater setup for a 10 day stretch of winter in my lifetime if this were to verify, when you factor the snow AND cold. All that snow would stay put for a long time. Lucky its a dry snow.

Yea if even half of this happens the pressure will be all over TDOT to keep TN open for business
TellicoWx
GEFS still running, but TDOT is gonna need a plow strapped to the front of an M1 Abrams to clear the roads on some of these members 2

John1122
The euro is also on board with the second system. It's pasting the Eastern areas at 168.

John1122
The entire run of the Canadian today. Uploading it because we probably won't see many like it. If you actually mouse over Knox County on Pivatol you'll see 23 inches. 4
Wurbus
CMC has over half an inch of ice for the 2nd system around the 19th followed by some extremely cold air. Hopefully, that doesn't pan out. That would likely be on top of several inches of snow from the 1st system.

TellicoWx
6z GEFS had a lot of scenarios lending support for the 12z...at 120 on 12z GEFs you can already see the return flow starting to stream north from western gulf.
Holston_River_Rambler
I like the PNA ridge on the GFS, I just wish the wave could dig a little more.
Holston_River_Rambler
Maybe this is a situation where the boundary will end up a bit further north for the next system to ride, after the early week event rolls out.
Holston_River_Rambler
It's the MSLP running into middle TN that makes me a little nervesome: A little more dig and we can get a clean Miller A, Mobile to Hatteras.

FWIW. That one at the end of the run (if you look at 500) has no chance to be wintry….. should cut straight to the Midwest. Would make sense we relax after the next week. When we start out that cold we often get a front end thump before it rains. Happened several times in 2015.

Yeah, you are correct. I shouldn’t discount that possibility. From a progression standpoint front end stuff can happen before a changeover.
