I can tell you don't settle for 90% or even 99%! Get into totality as it is a different world! I will be in Texas for this one. In 2017 I was on the centerline in South Carolina.

Same here. Was in Charleston in 2017 and heading to Dallas this time. Can't wait.

Correct - when I got back from Missouri in 2017 after the last one I had a ton of people making fun of me for spending the time and money to go to the middle of the country to see it……their reason was “oh it was like 90% here and it was so meh - what’s the big deal?”…..I would always say “it can’t be explained - when you make it to the center line you’ll know”…..really annoying the ignorance

We’re headed to Dallas too…..our plan is so stupid though…..daughter has a dance thing in Torrington the night before so we can’t even fly out until Monday so I booked the first flight out of Boston which lands at DFW like 10:00am lol…..eclipse starts at 12:45 or so I think…..once it’s over we’re off to Lake Tahoe for spring skiing in my old stomping grounds…..can’t wait……probably be confined to the airport to view it but idc…..all we need is a somewhat open view maybe from the top of one of the garages……lol….only bad part is if it’s shit weather we won’t be able to move…..

Billboards on I-45 in Corsicana, a third of the way before DFW and Houston advertising the eclipse.  Not sure that would be a destination.  San Antonio and Austin probably have the most other tourist-y things to do in full eclipse areas of Texas.  I'll be working and will not be allowed to go outside, except maybe for a three minute break.

Hah! Navarro county doesn't get mentioned much on this board. Know it well with family just south in Hill county. Perfect place to watch - but I plan to be in Maine hoping for good weather!

I've been telling this to people for months. Totality or bust, and be prepared for it to be cloudy. It'll seem like a huge thunderstorm rolling in even at 98% for my area. There may even be traffic issues. Leaving for Jay at 7AM!

Hopefully my fog and drizzle is even darker than usual.

We’re going to N New Hampshire but I’m already partially resigned to there being cloud cover.

Supposedly it's still pretty neat with cloud cover, like all of a sudden it gets pitch black  like night. I'll be up in NNH too, but I'm not sure where to go.

I was in Oxford England in August/early September 1999 (???) and I think they were something like 97-98% totality. I was in a work meeting and we paused and went to the windows to watch  and I'd describe the experience as a really dark cloud moving across the sun on a sunny day. It left most of us confused!

I subscribe to Weatherbell and looked at the extended CFSv2.  I saw on another site that this is a good model to look at the extended forecast.  It shows average precip forecasted over a 5 day period.  Here is what it shows as far a precip for Apil 6th through 11th.  It would be ironic if a Gulf Storm were to be forming knocking out Texas area viewing while we are still clear.  Models can barely get 5 days out correct so I'm sure this will change each day as we approach April.

I'll be in Saratoga Springs NY, the morning of the 8th and have three options all two hours or less drive time away. Plattsburgh, Tupper Lake or Lake placid?

I'm thinking Plattsburgh will have a better shot at less cloud cover than the two towns in the middle of the Adirondacks, everything else being equal that day. Interested in any opinions of which place would have the best odds for better viewing?

We plan to fly into DFW that morning lol.....on our way to Lake Tahoe for some riding and the kids spring break......the plan is dumb but could really work out....land before 9am and get ourselves outside somewhere to watch.....may or may not rent a car to get to the center but if we had to just stay near the airport I'd be fine with that too as totality is still 3.5 minutes at DFW......our hop to Reno leaves at like 10pm.......what a dumb plan lol....at least we won't be contending with stupid New England April meh........literally the worst time of year for a total solar eclipse here......
