The reason for the sight downtrend this afternoon was a slight change in the evolution of the system. Earlier runs had focused more on a trailing band that comes through around 3-5am. More recent runs are keying more on a band ahead of that which comes through between 11pm and 1am west to east. The problem is that’s too soon. Boundary layer is still torched. So less precip is falling towards the end when it’s actually cold enough.

3k is having about the best possible run you'd want in and around the D.C. metro... can at least pretend going into these last few hours that there upside. The 10:1 has that sweeeeet 3-6" (10:1) band in the spot several models have had it.

Weenie map. May the odds be ever in our favor.

Proper weenies going to wake up at 3-4am to measure maximum mashed potato depth

Wake up? I'll tell you what a proper snow weenie is.

A proper snow weenie stays up all night, is out JEBWALKING, with a yard stick, taking measurements throughout the storm. We snow enthusiasts don't get up. We are up like TRUE STORM CHASERS. We are up and at 'em! We don't wait for the storm! We take the research to the storm, chasing like a true overexcited snow maniac! We get in the very TEETH of the storm, walking around with a wireless tablet with wireless headphones BLASTING over 2000 tracks that remind us of the snow we cherish! We whoop loudly and long at each crazy northerly wind gust! We savor that frigid north wind blowing unbelievably huge snow aggregates right past the streetlights! We run in the deepening snow, and slide real long on the ice areas while whoopin' it up at the top of our lungs! We even get so damned HAPPY about finally getting to see our snow and getting to breathe in pure arctic air that smells so much like victory, that we dance on the ice like Michael Jackson at his very best! Even blasting Michael Jackson tracks!

Go out there! The hell with the bed! You can sleep in the Summer! Right now you got SNOW! This is the MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD RIGHT NOW! Chase that storm! Get altitude! Get west and north! You don't have to put up with low altitudes and being too damned far east!

Go enjoy the snow, on the snow's terms, and live it the hell up!

You want to live forever?!!!!!!!!!

I’m not sure South Central Texas is the right location for you Jeb.  How do you survive on occasional freeze warnings?
