Nice little vort coming down the pike for Sunday.  Should produce nice snow showers much of Sunday for a good chunk of the sub.  Won't amount to more than a DAB in places, but will be nice mood flakeage for New Years Eve.

A Bears game with mood flakes is my hope.

Been a steady snow here for a couple hours now. Steady enough it has overcame the pavement temps and have a solid coating on side streets. Sucks to get a late Nov. early Dec type snow in January but beggars can't be choosers of late.

Wish I was in the middle of the band just to my NE

Not really a thread for this, but tonight’s clipper system looks mildly potent. It’s trended back south in the last 12-18 hours, and should deliver a good 1-2” along/north of 80 in IL, could see there being a localized 3-4” if steadier banding occurs

That compact-potent disturbance moving through tonight is doing work out in Iowa.

1-3" reports in E Iowa, snow squall warning near DSM, and probably should have another in E Iowa. There was also a bit of TSSN earlier.

Models kicking out a few tenths of an inch (0.01 to 0.1) of precip over N IL tonight.  I assume would be very high ratios.

VERY HIGH SNOW:LIQUID RATIOS, LIKELY IN THE 20-30:1
RANGE. -LOT AFD

Should be able to kick out 0.5" to 2" area wide.
