Signal not as good looking on the Gefs, but they move around like the operational.

The epic cold streak: January 19th: -2 / -14 January 20th: 11 / -10 January 21st: 18 / -18 The 19th was the only day in Millersville weather record history where the high temperature failed to reach 0. I had consecutive mornings of temps below -20. Today, it's noteworthy if temps drop to 0. Seemed a little more pedestrian 30 years ago.

GFS & Canadian at 12z still track a low next Sunday off to our south & east. Cold enough air is not too far away & it wouldn’t take much to get those of us in the interior in the game for a wintry event if things work out right. Mount Joy Snowman
I swear I’ve been adding to my snowpack just from all the snow flying off the tall pines and cedars ha. Back yard has been like a snow globe all day. True winter, and it’s glorious.

What a stretch, and I was in eastern Baltimore at the time where climo sucks. 6.5" on 1/30, 5" on 2/2-3, 31.5" on 2/5-6 and 20.5" on 2/9-10... speechless
Itstrainingtime
Talk about forecasting and longer range pattern recognition...there was a lot of talk for weeks about a big time wintry window opportunity centered on about the 1/12 to 1/22 time-frame...it delivered.

Yes, it’s nice that long range pattern change tracking actually took place & produced ground truth snow with 3 events in the last 2 weeks.

The 12z Euro has a storm off of the coast in late January this run that is wide right.

mitchnick
Eps is a big OUCH! 1/2" snowfall for 360 hours that includes prime snowfall climo. Extended Eps as of yesterday put a trough in the SE in the mean the week starting 2/12. Gotta hope that's right.

People have waited a long time for a powder day to ski and board. To get a day like this on a Saturday after the last couple of winters...easy to see coming. Roundtop had 5 trails open to start the week. Today they have 18 open. Also - Tubing just opened which brings families not into skiing.

That low has to be the one to set the table for snow chances 1-4 days afterwards. No cold air going into this ones arrival. Blinds open though.
