Lightning
It has been snowing most of the day here. Has about a hour or so midafternoon break that even gave us some sunshine. My last measurement is 3.5"-4" on the ground even with the warmer ground and bit of sunshine.
cyclone77
Had flurries off and on this morning here on the western fringe. Didn't even expect that so that was nice.
michsnowfreak
Flurries and snow showers all day but they melted as fell here. Some heavier squalls dropped anywhere from a coating to a half inch though nearby. Have a bit of snow dust in the cracks now at night, but not enough to call it a tenth. Some northern suburbs had 1 to 2 inches, with 2.2" in White Lake. Flint had 1.5", DTW 0.1"
sbnwx85
Lake-effect has been pretty cellular in nature. Only added about a half-inch to an inch more so far. That dominant band is just now starting to set up in Cass County, MI and eastern Elkhart County, IN.

Expected only mood flakes, so over-performed.
weatherbo
Mini blast of winter was nice. Snowed 5.5 inches here with the temp hovering around 22 all day. Gusty winds certainly made it feel much colder especially considering the very mild start to winter. 10 or so miles west of here saw upwards of 7-8 inches and an area just se of Marquette received 6-7 inches. The fresh snow made for a chilly morning. Woke up at 5 am to 6 degrees and a cold house. White Christmas still uncertain. Big bust for the Northern Indiana WFO
SchaumburgStormer
Made it down to 12 last night. With the recent "warmth" the air had a bit more bite than expected when I walked outside today.

The highest I saw was around 2". Just west of Kalamazoo they had about 7". Not quite 2" at my place which was more than I expected.
Chicago Storm
There were some snow showers/squalls that moved through the area yesterday morning/afternoon, associated with the ULL/cold front that swept through the region. The snow didn't amount to anything more than a trace at ORD, but some other areas picked up a few tenths of accumulation.

On what many would consider a normal cold, windy, day in December. We've gotten soft and spoiled. 1

Temps in the 30s right now walking the dog and I am pretty darn bundled up. Yet after several days in the teens and then walk the dog in the 30s and I lightly bundled up.

If December is going to be the new November, I'll take those temps in a heartbeat. And it's not like it's going to be a complete washout. Just occasional showers. Beats the hell out of CAD.
hardypalmguy
Latest GFS breaks up cloud cover on Christmas Eve from 18z-00z, max temp 57, dews low 50s and modestly light winds. Could be a beautiful afternoon if all the cards fall into place. Stoked.

The gloomy skies and stratiform rains is the awful part I see (granted, this is normal climo for yalls' neck of the woods), not so much the temps or duration of precip. Brian D
Looking like a mess Christmas eve day, but exiting shortwave may allow for some snow on the ground Christmas morning, at least in the higher terrain. Storm watch starting Christmas day looks interesting up my way, especially for the hills. Had this noted in my Holiday thread.
Chambana
Stark contrast from a year ago at this time. Have 60 in the forecast for Christmas Eve, with upper 50s for Christmas Day. No matter what happens from here on out, this will significantly hamper my grade on this winter. Snow for the holidays is magical , even if no snow, cold sets the tone.
OrdIowPitMsp
GFS has latched onto the idea of backside accumulating snow on Tuesday, while the low spins in place. Something to track and be disappointed by while everything is closed for the holidays.
Frog Town
When I was trick-or-treating with my kids on Halloween and it was 32 and snowing, I joked with them and said, "Watch it be 60 and raining on Christmas"...... 1 2
