Chicago Storm
The first widespread event of the season is on tap for tonight and Sunday, across a decent chunk of the sub-forum. Guidance has trended towards slightly better phasing between the southern trough/wave coming out of the Plains and a northern trough/wave along the Canada/Northern Plains border. Looks like a widespread 1-3” event. .

DocATL
Gonna be a close call for W/SW Chicago suburbs. Maybe we hit 2 inches. A trace event and 3 inches at either end of the spectrum..
hawkeye_wx
Two consecutive days below freezing, combined with overnight timing, should aid the accumulation.

OrdIowPitMsp
Mood flakes+ all afternoon have morphed into light snow. Roads are greased, ground is dusted. Solid little event to remind us what time of year it is.
mhou
Snowing pretty good here, definitely more than I was expecting here.
cyclone77
Snow has started here and is already skifting the ground. Model QPF pushing 0.3" the last several runs so 3" accumulation is on the table.
King James
Got out of bed around 4 to watch the radar with some coffee and I have been sitting in that little screw hole since. Looking forward to tracking some proper storms with you all, hopefully something good by the 25th
Chambana
Wasn’t expecting anything from this, to my surprise I woke up and it’s ripping pretty good, sticking to elevated surfaces. Drinking coffee in my sunroom and absorbing the peace snow brings. Edit: ripping fatties right now
OrdIowPitMsp
0.4” as of midnight, maybe a tenth more since then and another few tenths today. It’s been below freezing for several days here so the snow accumulated readily on every surface.
Baum
radar looks nice. Perfect timing on the season's first real event. Coming down nicely.
cyclone77
Yeah it's pouring little dendrites straight down, sticking to the trees etc. Looks like a Christmas card out there this morning. Picked up 2-2.5" so far looks like, with a few more hours of steady snows to go.
SolidIcewx
I’m actually excited to see the flakes here around DTW soon. A nice capper to a UM win yesterday

hawkeye_wx
This system exceeded the model predictions. I finished with a real nice 4.1 inches of snow from 0.34" of liquid. The heaviest snow fell in the 3-4am period, when I was asleep, but some decent fluffy stuff lingered after sunrise. Just a couple days ago this was looking like a weak nothingburger, maybe up to an inch in spots.
cyclone77
2.4" here as of about a half hour ago. Gonna fall short of the 3" mark, but still a great opening event.

Brian D
Just got dusted up my way, but it's trying to look like winter. Still some flakes in the air. Can't wait for the ground to turn white. It really helps brighten things up with reflective light.

What one more degree could've done, lol. Certainly impressed with a nice performance on a S wind, warmest hours of the day, and very little climo support for acuumulating snowfall when Thanksgiving comes earlier. Anyhow, beats what many east of me have going on like noted by@Stevo6899
Chambana
Fun little event, and definitely a nice surprise and start to the season. It’s raw outside. 33 with 15-25mph winds. Cheers to winter 23-24.
