ORF may not get every storm but they've gotten more big ones than RIC. They also have a longer period of record so when you include February 2025, this is now the 8th time they've recorded a top 10 snowiest month this century, whereas RIC has only had 4 such occurrences. Here are the CLI reports for yesterday. ORF should add to theirs slightly since it was still snowing after midnight. Both stations also have a shot depending on the performance of the ULL later this morning, but both HRRR and 3K NAM seem to have it struggling once it gets east of the mountains. Yeah, it is not easy numbers at all for the average person to find and verify. Like I said at some point yesterday google and AI was no help at all on finding such info. The NWS site wasn't much help either when I glanced around it.

The NWS site wasn't much help either when I glanced around it. https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=akq That's the link to Wakefield's climate page. You'll have to dig deeper using the NOW data for some of the info you want. But, if you click on Local Climate, they have charts for the top 10 lists for temp, precip, and snowfall for Richmond and Norfolk. Below are the largest snowstorms (4"+) in Richmond and Norfolk since 2000. I counted 10 snowstorms 6" or more in Richmond and seven snowstorms 6" or more in Norfolk. Richmond is leading the pack, but that does not mean "parts" of Hampton Roads have not had more snow than Richmond. As I mentioned in this post yesterday, Norfolk has been snowier relative to the average compared to Richmond. The totals all across the board are going to be impressive to say the least. A storm that reached the higher ends of the forecasted amounts. Very well modeled for this small geographic region as well. Nice job. This will probably be it for us. And that's perfectly fine. A great winter. A+ for my area for sure. Two 7+ inch snow events in season. What a rarity. Doesn't look like we're going to get much action from the upper energy tomorrow but we'll see. Those are always tricky. Tomorrow night's cold is going to be impressive. Good night all and congrats. 12 hours ago, chris624wx said: Right around 10" in between Ghent and Downtown Norfolk! What a storm! I've officially just witnessed my top snowstorm. The previous one was when I was in college at UGA in January 2011. The Athens Airport officially record 8.8" in that storm. Congrats to all who cashed in! This will be one we talk about for a while here in Hampton Roads. Now, bring on the pollen and 70°F! 7 hours ago, EverythingisEverything said: I havent measured yet, just waking up to let the dog out, but the snow has stop and this is the end result! Hard to believe that I was completely not enthused about it at the end of last week, and then we gradually trended toward being in the bullseye. Sorry for everyone inland who saw the storm move to the SE through the week. Hoping you get another snow event this season (if you want one!) 1
Stormpc
I ended up with around 12 inches give or take. Matches well with the areas of Currituck around me that had 12-14 inches per Wakefield.

I guess flirting with that line as its benefits in the end.

overcautionisbad Posted yesterday at 12:40 AM Share Posted yesterday at 12:40 AM Final thought on the storm. I think it was the timing that hurt Richmond. If the sun had been down for most of that snowfall it would have accumulated more. There some melt that was occuring with that slow rate of accumulation. Beware of black ice tonight and the morning. Temps in the 20s where roads melted from.just the sun
