Well this stinks.  Going to hold my breath and watch the meso-scale models from here on out.

I still feel like we have a chance with the shortwave pulling enough moisture into the forecast area and the precipitation shield spreading north as it usually does.  The cold will be there.  Just need to the low to move north.

Is it a surprise AKQ didn’t at least issue a Winter Storm Watch for parts of area overnight or this morning??

I think they're likely TO go up this afternoon. They mentioned in their early morning AFD holding off due to uncertainty. I guess we'll see how they feel about that when their afternoon package comes out.

Man, I live in Northern Va and a few days ago we were in the middle of the good stuff. After seeing the bullseye down there, I was getting ready to bring my plow truck down to Va Beach and stay with my brother to make some money, but even now Im not sure lol. Hopefully its just noise and comes back north a little. See what NAM says in a bit...

Well, there you have it. All models have been an absolute joke in recent years. When it gets this close it doesn't do that much good. I can just look outside. I honestly think as just a layman that the science is flawed.

I was thinking about this. Might as well just and look at winter products from Wakefield 2 days out etc lol. What's the difference

Rarely do they go poof this close in. But I feel even in the big ones, our region tends to learn something in the final 36-48hrs that tells us we'll be screwed by something.

You know what's weird I remember as a beginning weather hobbyist in 2009 and the December 19 into the 20th storm was locked in early and I never ever thought it would change -and it never did at least for where I lived in King George, Virginia. Start snowing I believe late Friday night or early Saturday whatever that date was and the Tuesday before I just knew it was gonna be big and it never wavered.
