Couple of points here:

18Z European model 500 mb looks terrific.

Also, since everyone has been agreeing how bad the GFS has been and most of the other models are showing a strong signal for our area, maybe the signals that show a stronger storm with all that cold air in place makes sense at this point.

How did the gfs do on our storm the other day? Exactly total dog shit. GFS the whole time was basically giving Chesterfield 10-16 inches. What we get a inch if that lol  The only model il look at is the Nam. The nam nailed this past storm. Sucks I wont be able to track it til tuesday lol

With temps around freezing, looks like it'd be a very wet snow as opposed to our pixie stick dust during the January event!

Looks a lot like the March 1980 North Carolina blizzard. Of course this is just for fun. Very little chance that's happening but an interesting comparison

Here are a couple local TV reports from the March 1980 blizzard. Look at the wind and snow drifts in the first video! @EverythingisEverything@ldub23

Also, this was back when the area was commonly called just Tidewater. I'm not sure how and even why it changed to Hampton Roads. When you leave Virginia and say it, no one even knows what it is

RIC recorded 13" from that blizzard. Here is the front page of the RTD from that day. If you look closely at the top left, the blizzard warning included Richmond for "heavy and blowing snow up to 18". Don't think there's been a front page headline like this since.

I was  here for that. Started sat  am and they were  predicting 1-2 inches but  of  course that changed quickly. ORF claimed  13.7 inches fell but  it was  far  more than that in NN. I went  out  walking  in ti just after  it ended  late  SUN PM. Amazing drifts.

Snow was  more fun back then. No internet with model runs  4 times a day saying  its too warm, too far  north, too far south or too whatever.

Icon and GFS solid for Central Va. Temps close with GFS for RVA and especially south and east. But again just these 2 models one run. CMC coming in strong also only at hour 150.

Edit-CMC is a beat down for most on here! Close to if not a blizzard for some.
