Slow rates for sure but still lots of time looking at radar.  It’s weird not waiting for the sleet/rain to start mixing in with a storm.  Certainly not hating the dry snow, leaf blower over shoveling :)

3 inches is very much a decent event for RVA considering the last 5 winters.

Agreed!  Still less the a half inch here… just can’t get any good decent banding up this way ..Almost has stopped a few times.. Hopefully later today & tomorrow over performs or will be another storm under 3 inches here..

Road Trip to VB anyone?  Hang out with Cantore… lol

I don’t think VB will be getting those totals depicted on the maps. They could but I’m very doubtful. I’d say they are more in line to get 5-6 inches.

For those worried about the radar take a look at the current hours on the HRRR and active radar. In about 2 hours we will see the backfilling.

It should fill in nicely in a few hours.

Yeah Norfolk or Hampton Roads may be the sweet spot

After further in-depth evaluation looking at models and the current radar on my PC, out West it does seem to be drying up. I'm not so sure even if the coastal does push moisture that it will make it up this direction. We are in a very thin line for room for error right now. All TV Stations have potential to be bust, even NBC12. We will know more within the next hour on what will happen.

HR is VA Beach also (and south into NENC). Actually think Virginia Beach has the best chance to score 10 inches away from the immediate coast. Maybe near the Town Center. The coastal is going to obviously be closer and throw decent moisture back so it's going to snow longer there than anywhere.

Someone has a shot from Newport News down through Elizabeth City to hit double digits.

In the next hour another dry sport is heading for this area .. Definitely right on the line for something decent.. Again if it’s snowing better then it is now at 3pm we will have a chance to get to 3 inches + … I’ll be happy to get to 2 here … The upper air low tomorrow look's like it may miss this area all together on the last run but we will see

That literally happened Presidents' Day storm 1979 I was living near Atlantic City, New Jersey. Forecasted 4-6". Everyone got 18-24"!! I was 11 and it was AMAZING!

I remember Jane 25 2000.  Was living in Farmville and we were not suppose to get anything.  Ended up getting 16 inches.
