Stormpc
Thank you @Ric Airport. Sucks at this point looking at the situation for our Richmond friends. Hopefully the bump NW starts during the 12z suite. RATIOS are going to be huge on the northwest side of this thing. A half an inch of precip can easily lead to 8 in of snow.

mikeeng92
Don’t think I’ve ever seen a storm rapidly fall apart like this within this day 3 time frame.
JB Fins
I guess only hope now is that it’s over advertising the polar vortex. I know we have had some cold air invasions this winter but have they been as forecasted with the strength?

OTTOMH, the 12/3-4/2000 storm was a major disappointment for most of our area. I guess unless you live in Franklin, Ahoskie, Currituck areas. Many areas in NE NC received 10-15" of snow. But, the storm was supposed to affect most of east central and SE VA. In fact, NWS Wakefield (as you can see below) even issued a winter storm watch as far N and W as the Richmond metro area. Unfortunately, in the final 24hours the models shifted the storm farther south. It could've been better region-wide, one of my worst memories.

The 1/30/2010, which dropped 10" at RIC and 6" at ORF, went north in the final 36-48hrs because of this very thing.

Dick_LeBoof
NAM looks good. Here is a meteogram showing the most recent NAM and GFS runs at KRIC.
