eaglesin2011
Probably a good time to sleep! Looks like a decent break between now & around 6am in this area.. guessing it’s around 3 inches here in my part of Glen Allen but I could be wrong … I could see about the same added later today . (If we get lucky) kinda right on that line here ..(could get nothing) so will see.. This weekend looks to be interesting too, but not ready to talk about that yet until this one is over…

eaglesin2011
Unfortunately it’s just rain @ freezing rain here in my part of Glen Allen near short pump… I don’t expect it to turn over again until later this afternoon… this is going to cause major icing issues when this all freezes over later tonight especially on back roads and side streets… prob will be power issues in spots but hard to say how major that will be depending on where the temperatures stay around
RIC Airport
There will be a 6-8 hour window where temps may rise above freezing. There may also be a lull in precip before temps drop and we get the back end snows this evening (1-2"). Hoping for 2 to make this a 6" storm.
eaglesin2011
Yeah, thankfully that break between noon to around 6pm will be a key time to get allot of places plowed & to avoid major icing issues on most of the main roads & other side roads … Whatever doesn't and has snow fall on top will be pretty treacherous once it all freezes over again… Would be nice if we can get another 1-3 inches especially since some is being washed away now…
benjammin
I'm really happy for the Richmond folks doing well in this storm. I lived in that area for ten years and it killed me in 2010 when the DC area got obliterated with snow. I lived 40+ years in Arlington. Now living in the Lynchburg area for 8.5 years it really hasn't been better than Richmond. The snow game is a cruel mistress in the mid-Atlantic.
ldub23
They closed the schools here for wet roads. What a joke. Im sure nearer RIC there is ice on roads. None here at all

None here at all Icy roads here in western Henrico. Slipped getting my work computer out of the car. Not sure what it’s like in the city. Expecting another 1-2 inches later on top of this will cause issues tomorrow morning due to the much colder air tonight. Heard a few transformers pop. RVAman
Yes, I took my break. I apologize for glooming and dooming yesterday. Weather made my emotions high. I apologize, all. Hopefully we can get some more on the back end.

None here at all We (Currituck) have a 2 hour delay because of rain. At least it snowed a bit by you. Maybe you luck into an inch tonight so that tomorrow's commute is a mess. That's more impactful than this AM. You're going to get yours saturday.

Tonight might be worse because temps will drop after any snow that falls. Sat will be a slopfest at best.

eaglesin2011
Yep, it’s why that break & the temperature getting over freezing for a few hours is going to be huge for avoiding any major ice damage… We will see how fast the cold air works in & re freezes everything… Hopefully we can hit another good band right before the storm pulls away… After 5 to 6pm

eaglesin2011
About an inch or less most likely in most places, but again depending how & where the banding comes through there could be a couple inches added in isolated areas…
mikeeng92
Most aggressive is FV3 with 2-3. Meanwhile hearing branches snap outside and power flickering

RVAman
Grilling some eggs lol. Power out. Ice falling. This is what we want! Well besides power outages. Hoping for a solid 1-3 inches on the backend. Boss is pissed my power is out. Told me to drive to Starbucks. 1 1
RVAman
NBC12 is saying snow from 5 pm to 11pm. Depending on rates we could be looking at another layer of 2-4 inches. This would be insane due to the ground already being frozen. It’s dark out and it’s 11 am. Roads are freezing over already. Went on a walk with my son and the roads noticeably are getting icy again.
