I think you'll do better than me. Maybe a sloppy inch or two here, but I'm really thinking the goods will be above about 2500'. 35.4/27 Snow began 8:45 We will see but I think accumulations will be north of me over 1500 feet. We will know soon.

powderfreak
Pretty wild thermal differences between east of Mansfield and west of the mountain. 31F base of Stowe vs 41F in Underhill on west slope. Light snow in town with gusty winds. Sticking now, ground seems cold at least.
powderfreak
If only it was cold and not a marginal -1C to +1C thermal column… and the 10:1 maps were a possibility. Theres a lot of QPF tonight. Above the snow line is going to get an absolute paste bomb. Hopefully the Spine can hold onto snow above 2,000.
powderfreak
Snowing very hard here to start. Pasty snow down in the valley bottom at 750ft.
powderfreak
Not very exciting night outside of a low population NNE area. Too many posts in a row for me. But sort of a weenie worthy evening locally. RT 108/Mountain Road cam almost to the ski area base, just past the VT State Ski Dorm.

metagraphica
And power went out at 1:08AM. Wind has a very light roar to it occasionally. Standard luck for my road. Any strong sneeze and the power is likely to go out. Ridiculous.
LongBeachSurfFreak
It’s been absolutely ripping on the Stratton cams for the last few hours. Some of the heaviest snow I have seen In many years of watching the cams. So this is going to be a surprise big one above 2k even down to SvT. MarkO
It flipped to rain pretty much right after it started. An overall net loss below about 1500'. I see new snow above about 2500' on the hilltops across the valley (Welsh-Dickey).

Ginx snewx
17 hours ago, OceanStWx said: I mean they aren't even the same budget bins, so it's not like it could be used either way. NCEI is in NESDIS and repairs come out of the NWS budget. The bigger problem is that we can't get a full budget passed, and so continuing resolutions default to previous funding levels. So even under normal inflation our budget doesn't keep up, and the first and foremost thing to pay for is manpower and keeping the lights on. So repair work gets tighter and tighter, model development work suffers, etc. Thanks for the explanation. Bureaucracy rocks. How much snow for Gray last night?
