WNC_Fort
It's been a rough last week for me between losing a loved one and catching the flu. Otherwise, I probably would have chased up to Banner Elk and just stayed through the weekend for the Friday/Saturday event. Instead I'm settling for some warm soup while the first drizzle of the day starts. Edit: This snow drought can't last forever. One of these winters is going to blast us like 09-10 or the 60s. It just has to...

WxKnurd
Down to 33, as temps come down so is the dewpoint at the same rate so wetbulb keeps creeping down to 32. Might have something going now. Plotts should be getting hit pretty good like Hires models were showing and @Maggie Valley Steve ‘s Soco report backs up

They had 4 plows working the gap from both sides of the counties this morning. Drove back up to the tower and the roads were crazy slick with easily a couple of inches covering Soco Rd.

Sw NC weather
Had a rain/ snow mix at the house around 30 minutes ago. Rode up the mountain and it’s flat coming down with about 1.5” on the ground. Radar looks promising as well. Do we pull a last minute miracle out of this thing?

Hvward
Feels like we were down big but are pulling a miracle second half comeback. I am down to 35.8, models had me at 42 right now and there is still a good bit of precip to pull through the area.
WNC_Fort
Hoping you're right, Hvward. But, it's funny just how different things can be across parts of Asheville. I'm at 2110' and 41.6 degrees.
WxKnurd
The steady temp fall continues, down to 32.2 and still have room to fall. Wetbulb is 31.8 and continues to go down.
BretWx
41/28 - Looks like the precip is trying to push a little more south my way. Fingers crossed!

Yeah I am in the northern part of Buncombe, we seem to be getting a bit of that arctic air to filter in down the French Broad.

cold air aloft
My daughters are reporting heavy snow at our place in Maggie Valley, we are right at 3,000 feet. I'm at work in Canton, still a cold rain here.
Maggie Valley Steve
Took another drive up Soco Rd and conditions start deteriorating right at Fie Top rd going up to Cataloochee. The plows are working from Maggie up to the gap, so it's still open for now.
