Met1985
36 and rain. So far big model fail. It tries to change over during heavier rates but the radar is looking sparse.
wncsnow
It's a 3K and up winter for sure. Places below that like Spruce Pine, Asheville, Black Mtn, Waynesville, etc. Have all barely got any snow all winter. 4

Buckethead
2.5" currently. It's backed down to light snow, but there's lots of yellow returns on radar just upstream of me. Should pick up again soon.Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk
Buckethead
24 with flurries this morning in Wolf. I ended up with 4.5" overnight. Gsp called for 1-3". A nice little overperformer! That's 29.5" on the season. Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk 7

Tyler Penland
Stuck at 32.7 all night. Barely a dusting. Grandfather will probably be gorgeous once the clouds break later today with the sticky nature of the snow though.
Buckethead
The ride to work this morning was stunning! I wasn't dumb enough to try to go down through the Yancey County side, so my 3 mile drive turned into a 20 mile drive. I'm not complaining.Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk 15

WNC_Fort
So, what about highs in the mid to upper 50s is supposed to excite me about our February snow prospects below 3500'?

The first half of February was always forecasted to be above average temperature wise for basically the entire eastern US. For the mountains (and SE in general) the second half of February and even in to March show promising trends on the models and is consistent with El Nino climatology. 1
Tyler Penland
Really disappointed that this next system didn't work out. Did enjoy the warmer weather the past couple days.

Tyler Penland
We will score again. Oh yeah I'm not super concerned. Hell even if we don't I'm good with this winter. Beat the crap out of last year.

I feel really good about the backend of winter. Everything looks about as good as it can look. We've been plenty cold enough. We have had copious moisture. We just need both things to kindly occur at the same time. I think that happens. I'm looking forward to it.
WNC_Fort
Pretty great weekend to get out and enjoy the outdoors. Grass is greening and my backyard has plenty of trees budding and little flowers poking out on the bushes. Winter about to make its curtain call

ncjoaquin
I can be negative. I know I can. I get it. There has been very little or none valley and low land snow But the constant negativity and warm weather trolling wears me out. Hopefully, we get some snow soon. I will be disappointed if we don't. But dang.... It will snow again one day.

wncsnow
I wonder if @Rainforrest will see any flurries tonight. If this system trended north I think the higher elevations would have gotten rounded

ncjoaquin
0z Euro shows some potential, just a week out as noted by GSP. It will probably change, but it shows the potential is there. A more southerly track like the new 06/00z EC suggests heavy rain Monday, transitioning to wintry precip on the back side Monday night. The GDPS is similar in track to the EC but not as cold. The GFS timing would delay peak impacts to Tuesday, but hints at a more marginal HSLC event.
