Had that classic “cold pool moving in aloft” type feel with numerous fast moving small broken lines of showers. Precipitate for like 3-4 minutes, heavy for 1 minute in the core, then gone lol. Repeat once every half hour.

First frosts in Deep South before us again.
Layman
Bright, sunny, warm and the lawn is still lush. Looking like a good day for a mow out this way.

Mowed yesterday. Almost got arrested for rolling around nude on the lawn. However, waking up to leaves on a freshly mowed yard is triggering. 1

They're coming out in full force now which feels backwards for this time of year. Problem is, when that first frost hits, the ladybugs begin their home infiltration for winter. If the Deep South gets it before we do, good for them. It’ll come when it’s ready. I feel it has no bearing on the upcoming winter whatsoever. And I know you were just replying to Kevin…I’m just surprised at the concern over a frost by some folks.

Some people get antsy about it. I don't care either. Usually comes later in October around here. Sometimes early Novie.

Layman
Leaf/color status from here on 10/13. The colors are a little more vibrant in the sun when viewed directly - the camera seems to dull it a bit. This area is mostly pine, birch and maple. Still lots of leaves and green out there.
