Newman
Reed Timmer and a few others are in Cedar Key still. I'd hope they get out while they can. 12-16 foot surge won't be survivable

hickory
The town of Perry (6,800) is going to have a rough day ahead. I feel sorry for those people. Looks like their going to get the worst side of it.
TradeWinds
I'm surprised Taylor County building codes are only to withstand 130 mph gusts let alone sustained winds. I'm sure many are built above standards but older homes will be tested.

dan11295
Think it is clear places like Cedar Key are going to have a really rough time with the surge, even if the storm comes ashore a bit to the NW. I know the populated location are people are concerned about for impacts in Valdosta, GA. At 18 mph forward speed core would get there ~3.5 hr after landfall. KPITSnow
I get really sick of watching these threads and seeing amateur forecasters say “look I was right” especially when just 12 hours ago they called an ERC and that it wouldn’t strengthen beyond 110-115. 2

Witness Protection Program
I want some locals to run over shameless phony Justin Michaels with MIchelle Kosinski's canoe. NorthHillsWx
Has there ever been a major hurricane that wasn’t retired after a US landfall? This one might be a candidate to avoid retirement based on early returns

GaWx
25 minutes ago, NorthHillsWx said: Only bc it slammed a WMA instead of a populated city The perfect major storm that not only hit a sparsely populated area but also fortunately had an eyewall replacement going on just before landfall as opposed to the continued strengthening that some were expecting. But Perry, Madison, and Valdosta still had a big hit.

It was pretty obvious this would be a minor event. Small cane (low surge potential) that hit a sparsely populated area. Didn't matter how strong it got with the core of intense winds only being a few miles across without no major population centers nearby.
