It seems like a lot of the larger resorts are cranking up the guns. Killington and WV started Monday night. I know Bretton Woods and Cannon were blowing snow yesterday. Last night Sunday River started snowmaking on Jordan Bowl.

It's been snowing at Killington, but not sure if that's a good thing. I think the higher dews doesn't help, but temps are still in the mid 20's. I'm sure they'll be open by Friday, but does someone else open tomorrow afternoon to take the title to be the first to open? I'm not including that pile of snow Ward created.

They are hammering superstar and probably have another 48 hours before they need to shut the guns off.  Though it does look like there will be some warms ups, those guys might finally get a year where they don't need to panic or pray for temps 5 days before in order to make the World Cup.  Might even be able to start blowing great northern to skip the hike over to the ridge before the weekend (though TTB is a ways a way)

Snowmaking at Stowe began last night as well.

That is pretty cool that opening day is Friday! My recollection is that this will be about 800 vertical feet in the 2800 to 3800 ASL range? I think Sunday River also have the options for this type of upper level short-run experience. Looking forward to the season getting underway, but honestly my opening day won't be until 11/23 but that will be here soon enough!

Is there a thread or sticky anywhere with links to all the local ski area cams?  If not, would it be helpful to have one?  Possibly broken down by state? Just in case there isn't already a thread, and it's something people would find helpful, here's a few to start with if it's helpful.  Additional known links can be added to a sticky if/as needed:

I’d add this link to live images from Stowe/Mt Mansfield on the Lookout shoulder just above 3,000ft.

It’s not on the website yet because it’s not maintained.  Obvious tilt and needs to be re-centered.  It does rotate every 24 hours, and board isn’t scraped off yet.  So any crusty snow/ice from a previous day could rotate back into view.

This is one of three “new snow”measured locations at Stowe.  The other two being the classic Barnes Camp (1550ft) and High Road (3,014ft) plots that need to be checked in person during the operating season.

Just took a peek at the North Ridge cam at 1pm on Saturday and it was MOBBED.  Every seat on the lift was at max capacity for the entire duration the cam was up.  I let it run until it clocked out on it's own.  Looked like good conditions and temp at 41.  Really nice day to be out there.

Skiing and riding is popular these days.  Especially if you are the only game in town.

Numerous people out earning turns at Stowe after snowmaking allowed for nearly 2,000 vertical feet of turns if you are ok with some fast grass in places.

Yesterday it was looking surprisingly good for the top 1,000 verts from the quad unload down to the top of the six pack.  The lower 1k feet of elevation from 2600-1500ft saw about half the runtime and was more marginal.

Last night's episode of Maine Cabin Masters had them doin a ski cabin near Black Mt. in Rumford, ME.  Looked like a nice ski area.  I know a couple of people here have mentioned it before but it doesn't seem to get a lot of press.

I looked on G.E. to compare Black to Titcomb Hill in Farmington, but they are very different, with Black offering a bit over 1,000' vertical compared to Titcomb's 300'.  Despite its modest size, Titcomb keeps the Mt. Blue HS Alpine/Nordic teams very competitive.

Its Maine's MRG (they do allow snowboarding though). Lots of glading efforts going on there so when it snows the trees are a go. Great vibe and very impressive terrain for a smaller hill and there is an adjacent GBA glade for uphill enthusiasts.
