Euro much colder again next week and now further east with the So Cal tropical. Seems like the gfs is owning that model.

GFS has been kicking its ass sensibly although I'm sure the euro is still winning the H5 battle over Thule, GL and Verkhoyansk, RS.

Maybe some monthly record low maxes out there as well?

In addition to widespread rainfall and flash flood impacts,
temperatures will drop substantially this weekend, which will
threaten several daily record "cool" max temperatures across our
forecast area. The forecast high temperature for Las Vegas on Sunday
is 79F. The record coolest maximum temperature for August there is
78F, which was set in 1957. According to the NBM, Las Vegas has a 34
percent chance of tying or breaking this record.

Man these short term models have sucked ass. Insert any ST model into your post and someone has posted , x has morning surprises or x is very damaging. I listen to Scooter short term.

They have certainly been pretty awful as of late minus some coops here and there.

But tomorrow morning should have some rain and storms moving through.

Flood controls installed since have greatly mitigated the large floods here in NE CT

But look how widespread those totals are. So many rivers would be in major flood along with basements etc. It's not just a flash flood affecting 20 ppl in Conway, MA.

True just thinking locally. Look up the floods in Putnam Ct all the way thru Preston the ocean from the Quinebaug

Given the persistent troughing, I do think when we get something recurving off the EC in September or whatever there could be higher than normal chances of a PRE somewhere.

Just looking forward to some year having Hurricane Bill surf again. Most epic surf day of my life. Clean and humongous long rollers with sets of 25 ft.

Was on the Cog for that one 1965 , 65 degrees as we left, snowing up top immediately had to go back down. Our cabin in Maine was absolutely freezing

We got down to 39° on 8/31/65.  I was glad not to be on the swim team - the 6 AM workout with the air temp just 7° above freezing could not have been fun.
