Torch Tiger
I recall some cancelled summer at the end of July, back broken etc. Which is akin to ending winter at the end of January

dendrite
Looks pretty warm overall in the extended, but there will be mild downs. We’ll sneak some late fronts in around that ridge centered way to our SW.

Back in VT today after landing in BOS yesterday… Today’s 81/64 felt downright cool. It is crazy how the body acclimates… two weeks in Europe and not a single day in any city visited saw a high temp under 90F. Most were mid/upper 90s. It started to feel like normal. Today, windows and doors open feeling like it’s 72/48 but it was 81/64. Pretty wild how two weeks of 95F with nights of 70-75F can reset your baseline.

It’s honestly not hard to fathom a top 3 hottest Sept in the northeast based on the current look . I don’t think you’ll disagree.

I don’t think you’ll disagree. I think September is a lock for above normal, and any month with that long wave pattern (as advertised during the first third of the month) is going to be a contender for a higher-scale departure. Charts usually lay the ground work for the future outcomes, pretty colors and all. Red or blue. In this case, red. Much different than August. If we are going to accept models did well in August, we need to accept that they will do well in September. Can’t attack the data because of an agenda or pre-conceived mindset… which is very important to remember these days.

powderfreak
4 minutes ago, CoastalWx said: Top 3 hottest? Yeah not sure about that. Yeah, that only happens if the August pattern completely and absolutely dissolves into full ridge overwhelming from the central portion of the country. Likely there remains a tendency for FROPAs (especially NE’ern areas) moving over-the-top towards the Maritimes. But we look to get periods of true summer warmth during the first part of September. Guess it’s not totally unusual.

I was looking at the top Seps in CON and how the monthlies looked and it looks easily doable. Most of the top ones have been in the last 5-10 years too.
