View from my porch as the action rolled in last night. Constant lightning flashes, but no visible bolts.

It crazy how some storms are loaded with CC lightning.  Deep red on radar right on you.  Sky looks like the 4th of July grand finale but no CG to be seen.

Pretty decent MCS pushing towards St. Louis. Shear's lacking, but it's tied to a MCV / cold pool and it has that "long-lived" look to it as well.

Still appears to be somewhat elevated now, but per the SPC mesoanalysis page for 0-3km CAPE, the stable layer has almost eroded with clear skies ahead of it and convective temps being reached.

62 MPH wind gust reported at KSTL.

EDIT: It was actually a 79 MPH wind gust.

Severe storms are often uncoopertive for lightning photography, during the day at least.  There often are a lot of CGs per detection network, but usually not out in front where they can be easily photographed.  The best views are usually from the rear as the storm moves away.
