Lol.  I don't have twitter so I can't see the comments or other stuff. And I only know him in passing.

They've announced they are closed indefinitely.  It doesn't sound like a sure thing they will reopen.  The community needs that store.

Memories of that Gardiner store in '87.  The impulse-buy shelves at the check-out aisles caught stuff like a baleen whale.  Probably 90% of the locals were sure Hannaford would find a lot a mile or so south of downtown (and 150 feet higher) and build, but they tossed those millions to re-open (3.5 months later) at the place by the river.  Last May the parking lot was flooded but I don't think any went into the store.

Just talked to one of my winter seasonal employees in Johnson… him and his roommate lost everything on their first floor.

They put life jackets on at 3:30am Monday night and went out their second story window in a now or never as the water came up their living room stairs.  They waded through chest high water to higher ground at his roommate’s girlfriends house.

Yeah lots of those type stories. My boss left her house in Montpelier and had to walk through the woods behind her house. Luckily she had moved her jeep to higher ground earlier in the day. Spent the night in her Jeep.

Really sucks to hear people losing everything like that

Brutal and all of that stuff, from hundreds of homes, needs to somehow be disposed of properly.  My coworkers best friend lives in Waterbury and said everything in his neighborhood smelled like petroleum today.

Yup, that kid in Johnson said everyone is just piling stuff in their yards now.

Note height of water compared to the fence.  The first step is just get EVERYTHING out of the house and start over from there.

This the second floor window they went out of later that night at 3:30am with life jackets on from their canoe.

Crazy.  Water can be terrifying, I can’t even imagine it inundating your house.
Furniture ruined, carpets ruined, cars, furnaces, septic systems all ruined. Sheet rock and plaster water logged and becoming a mold hazard.
I wouldn’t be buying a used car from anywhere in Vermont anytime soon…

My favorite part of the Governor's midday press conference was the guy who said they are still looking for the bridge that got washed out in Vershire.  He then added that they are not going to put it back when they find it but they would like to find it anyway.  (he was smiling as he added the second part)

Vernon Dam.  That’s an impressive structure.  You can start canoe trips there and go all the way to Turners Falls.  It’s a beautiful two day trip.
