Day 1 Convective Outlook

NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK

   1129 AM CDT Tue Jul 25 2023

   Valid 251630Z - 261200Z

...THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE NORTHEAST STATES...AND OVER PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS...

...Mid Atlantic into southern New England...

A remnant MCV is currently over eastern PA. This feature is embedded within a larger-scale shortwave trough and associated 40 knot mid-level jet moving into the northeast states. Forcing ahead of these features is leading to scattered thunderstorm development.

Strong heating across the region, coupled with dewpoints in the 70s will lead to moderate CAPE values over 2000 J/kg. Sufficient winds aloft and steep low-level lapse rates will promote locally damaging wind gusts in the stronger cells through early evening. Storms will eventually build southward into eastern VA/MD as well.

Heard the thunder from the sea breeze storms. They’ve been popping a bit further north than usual this summer. We often get them mid island, but this year most have been on extreme north shore

Northern third of NJ going to get slammed first and hopefully everyone later

Radar looking nasty over NEPA and soon to be crossing the Delaware into NNJ.  Going to rock and roll for some locations.  You can tell the atmosphere is beyond ripe just by the way the radar as blossomed over last 60-90 min.

I wasn't sure if it was gonna hit us or miss just to the north, but the storm on Hunterdon County has extended far enough south now that I think it's gonna hit us.

Also stuff forming south of Quakertown that should hit us as well
