mahantango#1
Mowed on Thursday, it doesn't even look like I mowed this morning. This grass (and the weeds) are growing at an unprecedented rate. I guess that's what over 7 inches of rain in a month along with the high dewpoints recently will do.

Blizzard of 93
MDT has knocked down the “drought” to 3 inches below normal. After tomorrow, there is a chance that it is cut in half again. Suddenly, MDT would just be slightly below normal.
Blizzard of 93
Some of us are doing even better than MDT, while a few are worse off, but we can all see our way onward to greener pastures.

There are some that are unfortunate. They have not received this amount of rain. My garden is just a little to wet now. But some of us were blessed with these beneficial rains. I just hope we're not setting up for some kind of tropical hit later in the season with continued frequent rains until then. That's my worry. But mother nature will do what it wants to do. We have been through this before.

At least as far as rain is concerned. Not only Agnes, but other extreme rain events seem to target the Susquehanna. Imagine if some of those events bullseyed lesser river channels like the Lehigh, Delaware, or Schuylkill? The Susquehanna is a broad river that can handle extremes better than the narrower channels of the others I mentioned. While the Susquehanna floods were catastrophic, getting 15 to 20 plus inches over a widespread area of the other narrower channels would have probably been even more catastrophic.

Bubbler86
Seems we would need about 5-7" of rain in a 12 hour period here to flood our closest creek which is at its lowest point since the Much Worse than this Drought of 2020. It is 2 3/4 feet down from its high point of the last year in Jan. Minor flood stage is 6.5 feet but serious flood stage is a whopping 7.5 feet up at 10 feet.
