Are they sure there's no missing data in that Sarasota reading? That seems absurdly dry for Florida.
I believe the whole "normal" trade winds have been off the whole summer. It's one of the reasons extreme heat has built like it has, but another consequence is the precipitation distribution. Ft Lauderdale is so high due to their freak all time record 20"+ of rain in one day

I checked SRQ and that number would be very close to being right at the end of June.  They have added about 1" in July so are in the low 12" range for the year at the moment.  They had two months where they received less than .2 the entire month.   There have been Drought headlines for SW Florida much of the year.
