When I woke up to rain drops hitting the roof at  8 a.m., I thought maybe things would be OK. Well it was nice but not OK. Only had 0.13" with the morning showers. I thought maybe I could gain some more with the afternoon stuff. But, even though I was woken up from a nap to the tornado sirens going off for sup just miles north of my house, I ended up getting nada, zero, zilch. So, 0.13" is the day total for imby and that is not going to help the drought conditions at all. And now resting any hopes on the backside.upper low instability showers is probably a fool's run also. Once you start droughting it is hard to stop droughting.

The wind has really been whipping today.  I had to put some potted flowers in the garage so they wouldn't break.  We haven't had a windy day like this in several weeks.

We also noted the winds today.  I sure not as strong as you got but it really hasn't been windy the past several weeks.

...AIR QUALITY ADVISORY ISSUED FOR ALL OF WISCONSIN...

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air
Quality Advisory for PM2.5 which will remain in effect until noon
Thursday, June 29th. This advisory affects the full state of
Wisconsin.

Smoke originating from Canadian wildfires will spread from
north-to-south today (Monday, June 26th), impacting PM2.5
concentrations at the surface. We expect this situation to remain
highly dynamic over the coming days and will adjust messaging as
needed.

For today (Monday, June 26th), we expect the heaviest smoke
impacts across the eastern half of the state, where the Air
Quality Index (AQI) is expected to be within the UNHEALTHY
category but could reach the VERY UNHEALTHY category. People with
heart or lung disease, older adults, and children should avoid
prolonged or heavy exertion and consider avoiding all physical
outdoor activities; everyone else should reduce prolonged or heavy
exertion and consider avoiding prolonged or heavy exertion.

At this time, we anticipate the eastern half of the state to see
the heaviest surface smoke through this episode, with noon
Tuesday through noon Wednesday currently appearing to be the
period of heaviest impact. The AQI will likely range from the
UNHEALTHY to VERY UNHEALTHY categories, but we cannot rule out the
possibility of the AQI reaching the HAZARDOUS category.

Summer has become the season of smoke, not storms.

The storms yesterday did not materialize and missed me by storm margin, I didn't hear any thunder til this morning at 8. there was some light rain less than 1mm overnight with no strikes detected! Got dark with a few rumbles and 2mm of rain so far. All the most intense cells keep missing me in every direction - watching the loop from the last 3 hours is funny; how it pivots from my east to directly north. I was cloudy last night for nothing.

Breezy, smokey, and 52 here at noon.  A two day rain total of 1.68" brings the monthly total to 3.25".  Woods are lush and green.

I have a couple UP trips planned in July and August.  Looking forward to it!

Pretty cool to watch the showers rotate through lower Michigan

It is fun to see.  Very happy with the rains the past 24 hours.  It is great not to get it all in less than a hour but rather in a way it has soak down instead of mostly run off.

It’s too bad I accidentally broke my rain gauge.. the rains will definitely help the yard some. Nice to see it growing again mowed for the first time in a month yesterday

Found this.... prob explains it.

Here's why you smell plastic from a forest fire:

"Wood fires emit a ton of volitile organic compounds (voc)

Most of these VOCs are noticeable to our noses as the familiar "campfire" smell, but they breakdown quickly when exposed to UV radiation from sunlight.  Other VOCs like benzene, formaldehyde and acrolein are released and they outlast the "campfire" VOCs.

It's these chemical compounds that you're smelling as the smoke wafts around for a few days then settles to the ground and reaches your nose.

Thus the plastic chemical smell."

I wonder why this smells like burnt plastic or electrical and not wood.  Is the government burning pits of tires in the woods?

The TV is saying it smells like sulfur outside because of severe storms lol.
