Actually feels like summer for the past 24 hrs....the low temps this month have been unreal from a gardening perspective. Low growth rates from large diurnal swings...

Headed to the west coast for a cruise to Alaska later this week. It’s difficult to imagine even cooler summer weather than what we’ve been experiencing.

I went in June 3 years ago, once you get up towards the inner passage it gets cold. Took a raft tour to see a glacier and was never so cold in my life and that was with a jacket and a rainsuit, it was 30s and drizzling while we did the tour. I ended up buying a coat in Juneau for the rest of the trip.

Stein has really had a hold of me locally over the last 3-4 weeks. Ever since that 2” rain evernt in mid May . Had one quick downpour a week ago this past Friday . Lawns are starting to torch and burn. There’s no way this can be right.. right?

Probably wrong, even so still may be a Stein situation for some

Not much continuity in these operational runs though.

There's a kind of solace there in the notion that bad continuity means that what reality brings, it probably won't look like the models.  It offers a likeliness that what comes around might be better or different.

They've been spraying closed lows all over the map N of ~ 35 N for days of runs.  Sometimes even ridging and heat... then ...two cycles later no trace.

They've been spraying closed lows all over the map N of ~ 35 N across the hemisphere.  It's a weird scenario with a very -GLAAM.

Case in point.. as recent as yesterday afternoon.. tonight was modeled to be a soaker regionally. Box was calling for widespread .50-1”. Now it’s a few scattered showers as models basically went “poof” with rainfall.

Our 4" deep soil temperature at NWS Caribou had a high/low of 61/58°F today. This was the coolest soil temperature for June 11 since 2009! The recent wet, cool week definitely had something to do with this. #MEwx
