yanksfan6129
Hi; long time lurker here (and previously at eastern)...still learning the finer points of meteorology. Am I to understand that, based on the current models, this storm is "back" so to speak?

TheTrials
I wonder if the SUNY MM5 is having convective feedback because it is west of where the NAM is. Looking forward to the next few frames! Oh yeah, Merry X-Mas all!

JoeSeNJ
I am surprised more have not brought this up. The immediate NYC metro might benefit more from something a tad east of the GFS and the GFS ensembles.

Kingwill
As I wrote after the 18Z runs the HPC will have alot of egg on there face if tonights Model Runs continue West trend(all have some significant) and they still deny the trends. The only thing I can think of is a storm like this defies all Logic in a LaNina winter so they will hold out til the very last moments before sounding alarms..I think If tomorrow Morning shows similar solutions they will HONK.. Bluescat1
I think Glenn did a great job explaining all week how difficult this forecast was, and I think he made a smart one tonight.
A-L-E-X
Just to say how fluid this situation is-- Lee Goldberg went from trace to 1 inch for NYC and 1-3 inches for Queens/Bklyn/Long Island at 6 PM to 6-12 inches for NYC and one foot for all of Long Island at 11 PM. And he said maybe it's not done trending yet lol. Could be the best combo of snow + wind since January 1996!
A-L-E-X
well based on that gfs clown map looks like eastern LI and eastern NE may have mixing issues..... that Millenium Storm analog may still be on the table.

eduggs
The RGEM 48hr SLP location is very close to the GFS ensemble mean. The mean shouldn't typically be compared to an operational, but with such a tight ensemble spread, it demonstrates strong support from the Canadian. RGEM is also superior to the GGEM in the short term.
