We picked up another 0.16" of rain overnight bringing the 2 day total to 1.35" of rain. Since Wednesday we have recorded 2.02" of much needed rain. Today will be cloudy but dry. The next round of rain moves in late morning on Sunday and should last into early Monday morning. We could see another 1.25" to 2.00" of rain with this one and increasing winds again.
Some shower chances for most days this week with the exception of Thursday which looks mostly sunny. Below normal temps look to continue all week.
Records for today: High 88 (1974) / Low 28 (1922) / Rain 1.08" (1902)

Speaking of ridiculous records. June July August of 1966 takes the cake for ridiculous records of both max temperature and dryness

Max mean temps (avg) (rank)
June 87.7 (81) (1)
July 93.2 (85.4) (2)
August 89.7 (83.1) (1) next highest 85.5
J - A 90.2 (83.2) (1) next highest 87.7

Mean avg temps
J - A 77.6 (73.6) (2)

Precipitation
June 0.07 (3.69") (1)
July 0.81 (3.89") (2)
August 1.53 (3.72") (19)
J - A 2.41" (11.28") (1) next lowest 5.18"

I'm sure people remember the heat in 1999. 6 days in July over 100, beating the 5 from 1966 for July. For the June through August summer season it tied 1966 with 6 days. For days over 90, 1999 was tied with 1988 in 4th place with 39 days. 3rd place was 1944 with 41 and 2nd place was 1943 with 42. The average from 1888 to 2023 is 17. There are 92 days in the season so on average we eclipse 90 on 18.4%. in 1999 and 1988 that rate was 42.4%. In 1943, the second highest it was 45.7%.

The point of this is to highlight just how absurd the 57 days above 90 that occurred in 1966. 62% of the days. 26 days were above 95 beating 22 days in 1999.

The 1960s seemed to be the wildest decade in this area weather wise. Between the 5 top 10 snowfall years, the insane heat and drought in 1966. I need to look further to find more anomalous events, but I'm sure they are there in that decade.

Could have mowed over here today.  Partly Cloudy and 65.  Hit 70 before I left Frederick (down there).

There's still time to get er done. Don't waste an opportunity to mow. Remember you got some catching up to do. Your behind on the leaderboard. So any kind of mow could  propel you eventually throughout the season to first place.:weight_lift: Remember what is at stake here.
