calculus1
Buncombe is like the driest county in the state. Surrounded by mountains, they get downsloped no matter the direction from which the weather system approaches. On the other hand, Gorges State Park, just a few score miles to their south (in @rainforest backyard) is located in the wettest county in the state. There’s an excellent exhibit on this huge disparity in precipitation at the visitor center at the aforementioned state park. So, the paltry rainfall total at the Asheville airport for this system does not surprise me in the least..
Tyler Penland
Up to 5.51" here since Monday. Another half inch in that line of showers that just moved through, came down in buckets for a little bit.

It makes a lot of sense but crazy to think about.
wncsnow
West Asheville just picked up one of the heaviest rain they have had since the event started. Probably .30 to .50 or more in places. Still remarkable how much more rain I had at the house than work.
calculus1
Got another quarter inch of rainfall myself this afternoon/evening.Heading to the SW mountains tomorrow for several days. West of Robbinsville in a few cabins with extended family. Should be fun. Plan to drive the Cherohola Skyway while out that way. First time doing that. Hope to do a few hikes off it too..

Tyler Penland
That MCS back in TN looks mean. Curious to see how it holds up over the next few hours. Could bring some big storms in this afternoon.

Yeah if that holds together that would bring a lot of rainfall and some heavy storms into the region.

Could bring some big storms in this afternoon. According to the last few Hrrr runs it holds up fairly good. Should be heavy downpours for most and some embedded storms. Also shows another round moving thru in the early morning hours.
