Josh can prob verify as I usually talk outta my ass, albeit accurate often, and he has the real data, but this seems like the 5th shitty April in a row. Granted it was 80 n sunny for 5 days in a row, but other than that, 20 days of grey, shitty temps.

For now, DTW's temperature departure for this April is still 3.4+ (albeit half of what it was just a week ago).

Still plenty of time to go down further though.

That’s how April is 99% of the time at this latitude

Good stats. Now I will say that the past 5 years have definitely had an abnormal amount of very late season snow. But I think April expectations are too high in the Great Lakes. A typical April is quite gray and features a roller coaster of temperatures ranging from summer to winter.

For some reason many people in MI have a month ahead mindset with the weather (i.e. they feel like April weather is supposed to be like May actual climo) ... especially spring and fall months.

Yea I guess I just get excited when April comes, expecting consistent warmth which isn't the norm. It would just be nice to get a torch April or March, and that just hasn't happened in awhile.

Switch will flip from 50s-60's to 70s-80's last week in May. Memorial day weekend marks the general period we start to have summer like pleasant weather. That lasts about 3 weeks till late June when 1st heat waves usually show up.Heat backs off and turns pleasant again in September.  Then first true fall cold front comes around  third week of September as a reminder that summer is on its last legs. Nice fall temps till around Halloween then the inevitable decline into the predominant 40s or lower from Nov till the following April.

The persistence with the eastern trough though.

Kinda sad here. All the trees and shrubs went from bright green fluff to brown/yellow/red. Almost looks like fall around here. Everything would’ve been full bloom by now if the temps would’ve stayed somewhat decent (50°s/60°s) but the 20°s and 30°s really put a halt to their growth.

Trees and shrubs seem okay out this way where I’m working. Definitely last night was a shock to everything growing

A general comment, not just directed at you: most people on this forum know their climo.

But if you’re a warm weenie (or snow, severe, etc.), climo isn’t good enough. It’s just how life goes.

If you’re a sports fan, an average season isn’t good enough. You don’t play the game for an average season, you play to win it all.

And if you enjoy something in life, you want more of it. I like chocolate, so eating an average amount of chocolate isn’t good enough.

I know these are strange analogies, but it’s reality.
