cold through the 20th.  Can we get some warmer weather after that.  Looks like we may get the cool March, warm April combo, which has been rare to get around these parts

I’d love an actual warm April for once, but the trends aren’t looking good. Look at all that high latitude blocking the CFS is implying. Doesn’t usually bode well for warmth in the mid-latitudes.

Same rinse and repeat pattern of the last several years rolling into March.  Endless cutoff lows until Memorial Day will start showing up, severe weather season squashed, and snow.  The only difference from the last several years is with La Niña disappearing we roll into a below normal summer to continue the misery.

Some similarities with 2012-2013 and 2022-2023 temp wise. Obviously this winter is a decaying weak La Niña to enso neutral, I’m curious to see if this spring plays out similarly to 2013, which was miserable, cold and wet. If I remember correctly enso neutral was observed for all of 2013, so I’m curious to see how fast this El Niño comes on.

The last couple of April's here hasn't been that bad. First two  since moving here with less then a inch of snow. Actually had some 70s and 80s. Been a long shitty stretch of April's around here prior.

Meanwhile the last 3 April's at DTW

2022- 4.1"

2021- 3.6"

2020- 4.9"

The April 20/21, 2021 snowstorm dropped 3.6" at DTW but 4.4" here and with things blooming early, the scenes on Apr 21st were surreal.

April 2020 was 3.6 here. Every year prior had a few inches at least with April 2018 having 5 and that crazy ice storm. April 2017 had temps spring like ( mostly 60s and 70s even a couple 80+ ) but still managed 3.3. first week was a bit colder but after the snow it warmed quick and pretty much stayed that way.

Usually mid to late April here. Best weather always seem to follow Memorial Day for the first several weeks of June then repeats itself in September. Majority of September's bring out the best climo moniker from Alek

Not much can beat April 2016 though. To see 7” of snow was truly shocking

A guy down here in southern IN. just mowed his grass today after 1/2" snow last night.

I had to look this up. Last year I mowed for the first time April 3rd. And seeing how I am right between the both of you, it even looks right.
